The Wales at 1295 Madison Avenue: A Renaissance Revival Condominium Residences in the Heart of Upper East Side

The Wales, an iconic Neo-Renaissance building in the Carnegie Hill neighborhood of the Upper East Side, is undergoing a significant transformation from a former hotel to a collection of condominium residences. This ambitious project is being led by Adellco, with interiors designed by Cabinet Alberto Pinto, and FORM4 Design Studio helming the architecture.

The restoration of the building’s facade, which includes the cornices, quoins, and brickwork, is a crucial aspect of the project. A new entablature has been added to the building’s design, based on the original plans by architect Louis Korn.

The Wales at 1295 Madison Avenue will feature a total of 21 residential units, ranging from two- to four-bedrooms. In addition, a new five-bedroom penthouse at the roof level has been added to the building’s design.

The location is ideal, situated just one block from Central Park on the corner of 92nd Street and Madison Avenue. The Wales at 1295 Madison Avenue has been a symbol of elegance and distinction in the Upper East Side for more than a century, drawing visitors from around the world.

The residences at The Wales are designed to evoke classic pre-war design with a modern approach. The grandly proportioned living spaces feature airy, sunlit exposures, richly toned white oak flooring, and custom cornices.

The kitchens, designed by Cabinet Alberto Pinto, offer white quartz slab countertops, custom-designed white lacquer cabinetry, and appliances by Wolf, Sub-Zero, and Miele.

The full-floor penthouse is a stunning addition to the building’s design, with a wraparound terrace and a private roof terrace with an outdoor kitchen and butler’s pantry.

The elegant 24-hour attended lobby at The Wales features coffered ceilings, a custom walnut and marble concierge desk, and antique mirrored walls.

Amenities for residents include a sophisticated oak-paneled fitness center with Peloton and Hydrow equipment, a pet spa with grooming station, bicycle storage, and private storage for purchase.
