The construction of a 30-story medical office building is currently underway at 403 East 79th Street in Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
Designed by Perkins Eastman and developed by Extell Development Company, the building will encompass 400,000 square feet of Class A offices and retail space on the ground floor and cellar levels.
The Hospital for Special Surgery has signed on as the anchor tenant, committing to occupy 200,000 square feet across the first eight stories. Lendlease is responsible for the construction of the building, while Ancora Engineering is providing engineering services.
Excavation work has been completed, and the construction team is currently forming the reinforced concrete foundations.
The project is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The development of this medical office building is a significant addition to the Upper East Side’s commercial real estate market, providing a substantial amount of high-quality office and retail space, as well as a major healthcare provider as the anchor tenant.
