Affordable Housing Lottery Opens for 85-87 Herkimer Street in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn

The affordable housing lottery for 85-87 Herkimer Street, consisting of two four-story residential buildings in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant, has launched. The buildings, designed by Zproekt Architects and developed by Elie Fourti, offer a total of twelve residences, with six in each structure.

Interested applicants can access four units through NYC Housing Connect, available for residents at 130 percent of the area median income (AMI). The eligible income for these units ranges from $102,823 to $187,330.

The four available units comprise of two one-bedrooms with a monthly rent of $2,999 for incomes ranging from $102,823 to $156,130 and two two-bedrooms with a monthly rent of $3,499 for incomes ranging from $119,966 to $187,330.

To apply for these apartments, prospective renters must meet the income and household size requirements. The deadline for submitting applications is May 15, 2023, and they must be postmarked or submitted online by this date.

The affordable housing lottery provides an opportunity for individuals and families with lower or moderate incomes to access affordable housing in desirable neighborhoods. The initiative serves as a vital tool in making housing more accessible to a broader range of New Yorkers.
